Holotype, male, red ring label “Type” / “78-57 Old Calabar” (NHMUK).
Taxonomic note. Scoble (1999) refers to the taxon as being described from syntype (s) (sic!). In the original description (Butler 1878), the number of type specimens is not specified, however, the description refers to a single specimen.
