EKT Mobile App development (output 9)

As part of the development of the EKT platform, a mobile app was developed to ease those quick tasks that students and mentors need to do/check during the school placement. The EKT APP was developed natively for Android devices and is available through Google Play Store on the participant countries of the EKT Project.

For those whose mobile devices are not android, it is still possible to access to the EKT Platform by using a web browser. The EKT Platform was created using responsive design, this means that it doesn’t matter the device used by the user to access to the EKT Platform as it will always fit the device whether desktop or mobile. The EKT APP was designed having in mind that not all the EKT platform features are going to be used from mobile devices. We do think that the mobile app serves as a quick access to some functionalities, for instance, check user information, notifications or calendar appointments. Other complex activities, such as create learning contents, create e-portfolio posts, etc. although they can be accessible as well, it is recommended to user a computer as it could be difficult to compose long texts or multimedia materials. The EKT APP has been developed as a complementary tool to help in the process allowing a follow-up of the process and quick interaction in mobile situations. It is therefore a support resource to facilitate continuity but not to carry out training activities that require time and slower elaboration. This criterion has guided the definition of the APP of the EKT system.
