Type locality. Suriname

Type specimens. Undisclosed number of syntypes (NHMUK).

Taxonomic references. Cramer ([1776]), Godman & Salvin (1884), Hampson (1901; 1920), Druce (1903), Rothschild (1910), Watson (1975), Watson & Goodger (1986) and Vincent & Laguerre (2014).

Material examined. Brazil, Maranhão: Açailândia, 4°57'14.17"S / 47°30'11.08"W. Light traps, 19–27.xi.1990, V.O. Becker legit, 1 specimen (VOB).
