How to Improve Media Coverage to International Refugee Protection

  • 1. University of Bergen

Description

Media coverage plays a crucial role in shaping public opinion. The way that migration is reported in the media can influence how people perceive and understand migration, and can also affect their attitudes towards migration and asylum, and the impact of media discourses on international refugee protection and asylum policies. We provide a comprehensive analysis of how the traditional and social media across selected European countries perceived and reported on migration and refugees from 2015 to 2022, during the period of the strongest waves of the so-called European migration crisis and the adoption of international agreements for their solution.
