Dataset README - Field observations of water dynamics at the Hailing Island, China This dataset records water dynamics data (water depth, wave parameters) collected during the landing period of Typhoon Chaba at the Hailing Island, Guangdong province, China. There are three observation stations, p1, p2, and p3, located at coordinates (111.9665, 21.6498), (111.9652, 21.648), and (111.9667, 21.6504), respectively. Each station is equipped with pressure sensors (RBR solo3), and the instruments were installed on December 25, 2021. The data covers the period from June 30, 2022 to July 6, 2022. Observation Stations There are three observation stations, p1, p2, and p3, located at the following geographic coordinates: p1: (111.9665, 21.6498) p2: (111.9652, 21.648) p3: (111.9667, 21.6504) At each station, water dynamics data was collected using pressure sensors (RBR solo3) installed on December 25, 2021. Dataset The dataset consists of three tables, "P1_depth_wave", "P2_depth_wave", and "P3_depth_wave", each containing the following data: Date: the date of the observation Water depth (m): the depth of the water in meters Significant wave height(m): the significant wave height in meters Significant wave period(s): the significant wave period in seconds Maximum wave height(m): the maximum wave height in meters Maximum wave period(s): the maximum wave period in seconds Average wave height(m): the average wave height in meters Average wave period(s): the average wave period in seconds Wave energy(J): the wave energy in J In addition, the dataset comes with an "Observation Notes" document, which records the instrument settings and other experimental considerations. License This dataset is open data, and anyone can use it. We welcome you to use this data for academic research, commercial products, or other purposes.
