####### Last updated on 8th Jan 2023 ####### --------------------------------------------------------------------------- This repository contains the following folders: 1. /MITgcm2.8deg_GridFiles: contain the grid files for the outputs, including - x: longitude - y: latitude - z: depth - da: horizontal area of each grid box. 2. /MITgcm2.8deg_Fields: contain the 1-year average salinity, density and temperature fields from the MITgcm_2.8deg transport matrix, namely - Salt_gcm - Sigma_gcm (density at 3 different levels) - Theta_gcm 3. /ModelOutputFiles/NonSeasonalRuns: model output for the following values of (constant) b: - b=1.388, circulation not acting on detritus: 2 files 4. /ModelOutputFiles/SeasonalRuns: model output for the following seasonal b cases: - 60% strength, phase = 3 months, circulation not acting on detritus: 2 files in total --------------------------------------------------------------------------- IMPORTANT INFORMATION ----------------------------------------------------- Description of the files: each run is associated with two different *.mat ouput files, which are generically written as - phypo4det*.mat: contains ix lat x lon x depth x time fields for phytoplankton, phosphate and detritus; fields that include 'avg' in their name, such as phyavg*, contains last year's 12 monthly averages of the phytoplankton field. Fields excluding 'avg' contains the last 13 outputs at the first day of each month. In the manuscript, we only use the 'avg' ones. - diag*.mat: contains either six or 6 lat x lon x depth x time diagnostic fields for the model - last 12 months only. In the manuscript, we use only fbgc1 (=primary production in each box) and fbgc3 (detritus sedimentation through upper boundary of each box). These diagnostics must be multiplied by 8 because of the biogeochemistry subtimesteps (1/8 of the ocean timestep). All concentrations are in mmol P/m3, except the diagnostics - they are in mmol P/m3/oceantimestep. For details on the description of these fields, particularly the diagnostic fields, please refer to Kriest et al. (2010) and to Iris' Kriest slides available on https://github.com/samarkhatiwala/tmm (direct link: https://ftp.geomar.de/users/ikriest/TMM/MOPS-TMM-2016-June.pdf) If you have any questions, please feel free to contact me. ---------------------------------------------------------------------------
