TYPE LOCALITY: Brazil, Bahia, San Francisco River.
DISTRIBUTION: S Texas (USA) to Venezuela, Peru, Bolivia, and E Brazil.
SYNONYMS: centralis, diphylla.
COMMENTS: See Greenhall et al. (1984, Mammalian Species, 227).
