Investigating sediment supply impact on centennial saltmarsh biogeomorphic development with Demeter

Description

This repository contains a series of simulations to investigate the impact of (changing) sediment supply on the long-term biogeomorphic development (200 years) of saltmarshes (4 km2). The model used is Demeter (https://doi.org/10.5281/zenodo.7101535). 

Each simulation output file contains:

  • yearly bottom elevation maps (resolution of 5 m);
  • yearly vegetation coverage maps (resolution of 5 m);
  • yearly hydroperiod maps (resolution of 5 m);
  • yearly exceeding bottom shear impulse maps (resolution of 5 m);
  • vegetation distribution maps every 5 years (resolution of 50 cm).

Each simulation is also processed to compute channel network characteristics with TidalGeoPro (https://doi.org/10.5281/zenodo.7153257), such as:

  • maximum upstream channel length along channel network skeleton every 20 years (resolution of 5 m);
  • total upstream channel length within tidal watershed along channel network skeleton every 20 years (resolution of 5 m);
  • tidal watershed surface area along channel network skeleton every 20 years (resolution of 5 m);
  • mean unchanneled path length within tidal watershed along channel network skeleton every 20 years (resolution of 5 m);
  • channel cross-section width, depth and area along channel network skeleton every 20 years (resolution of 5 m);
  • yearly unchanneled path length maps (resolution of 5 m).
