This dataset contains information on pelagic silicon cycling in river, estuary and marine samples collected from the Severn Estuary, UK, in 2016. Zone - refers to location in river-estuary-marine system, with Zone 1 referring to upper river, Zone 2 referring to lower river, Zone 3 referring to the estuary, and Zone 4 to the marine system. Each sampling station has a unique identifying code. Latitudes and longitudes are provided. DSi - dissolved silica (silicic acid) (mg/L) BSi - alkaline extracted biogenic silica (mg/L) Nitrate - dissolved nitrate (mg/L) Phosphate - dissolved phosphate (mg/L) Nitrite - dissolved nitrite (mg/L) Ammonium - dissolved ammonium (mg/L) Water T - temperature (degrees centigrade) pH - water pH Salinity - water salinity TOC - total organic carbon (mg/L) SPM - suspended particulate matter (mg/L)   For full details of sampling locations and methodology, see Welsby (2019) “Feeding the ocean? A biological mediation of estuarine silicon”, PhD Thesis, University of Bristol.   https://research-information.bris.ac.uk/ws/portalfiles/portal/218675200/Final_Copy_2019_10_01_Welsby_H_PhD.pdf
