A PARADIGM SHIFT IN EDUCATION VIS-A-VIS -LEVEL OFACCEPTANCE OF TEACHERS IN THANE DISTRICT

Description

Current education system is emphasizing more on rote learning i.e. memorizing of facts rather than conceptual
learning. It relies completely on text books and Students are learning the subjects just to reach to the next
level of grade. There is no scope for creative learning and hands on training as per the current curriculum.
Today's world is moving forward towards technological advancement and new innovations hence there is an
urgent need to adapt new education system as per the industry needs which should be skilled based and
conceptual. There is an emerging needs to frame and design the new education structure to build today'
youth more employable. Change is inevitable and we need to change according to time. To bridge the gap
between traditional education system and Industry demands, Government of India on 29th July,2020 has
approved National Education policy which will bring the paradigm shift in Indian Education system. The
success of any education policy depends upon the efforts of its fraternity. Teachers' role is a key for successful
implementation of National Education policy. In order to study the acceptance and opinion of teachers
towards paradigm shift in education the study was conducted in Thane District. The study contains primary
as well as secondary data. Primary data was collected from Junior and Degree college teachers residing in
Thane District by floating structured questionnaire using 7-point Likert Scale. The null hypotheses were
tested by using non-parametric test and findings were presented in the research paper. The research paper
will create awareness among teachers towards new reforms of National Education policy 2020. It would
also help to Educational institute/ Universities to identify the requirements from teachers for smooth
implementing of N.E.P.
