Additional funding came from a NASA Interdisciplinary Science (IDS) grant 80NSSC20K1291, a Future Investigators In NASA Earth and Space Science (FINESST) grant 19-EARTH19-0117, and a National Geographic grant EC-51129R-19. SHARING/ACCESS INFORMATION Links to publications that cite or use the data: Links to other publicly accessible locations of the data: Due to the sensitive nature of these data, the locations have been withheld, but covariates are retained to allow for reproduction of the analyses. Deer, cougar, and wolf GPS locations are available by request from the Wildlife Chief Scientist, Washington Department of Fish and Wildlife, 1111 Washington Street SE, Olympia, Washington 98501, USA. DATA & FILE OVERVIEW File List: Ganz_et_al_2022_MD_SSF_data.csv - data used to conduct the step-selection function evaluating mule deer movement. Ganz_et_al_2022_MD_mortality_data.csv - data used to run a logistic regression evaluating mortality locations. METHODOLOGICAL INFORMATION Description of methods used for collection/generation of data: Please refer to Ganz, T. R., DeVivo, M. T., Kertson, B. N., Roussin, T., Satterfield, L., Wirsing, A. J., Prugh, L. R., (2022). Interactive effects of wildfires, season, and predator activity shape mule deer movements. The Journal of Animal Ecology. Methods for processing the data: Locations collected at a 4-hour fix rate from GPS collars affixed to mule deer (Odocoileus hemionus). Data from 3-weeks post capture were censored as were migratory movements. Random locations were generated based on the distribution of step-lengths and turn angles for mule deer in the winter and summer, and covariates extracted to the used and random locations. We have retained the covariates to allow for reproduction of the analysis but removed the coordinates of the locations due to the sensitive nature of the data.
