Description of dataset These data were generated to 11 natural wild populations (191 individuals) of N. oviforme across the whole geographic distribution of in the Qinling Mountains and adjacent areas. In the field, the distance between any two sampled individuals was at least 50 m. Some fresh leaves were also dried with silica gel prior to DNA extraction. The purity and integrity of DNA were evaluated using agarose gel electrophoresis. 15 polymorphic simple sequence repeat (SSR) markers were selected to amplify 191 individuals of N. oviforme. The amplified products were quantified using gel electrophoresis and sent to Tsingke Company (Xian, Shannxi, China) for capillary separation analysis. 2. The amplified products were quantified using gel electrophoresis and sent to Tsingke Company (Xian, Shannxi, China) for capillary separation analysis. For each microsatellite locus, we detected the potential loci under selection using Arlequin v3.5 software (Excoffier & Lischer, 2010), and these possibly selected loci were removed for subsequent population genetic analysis.
