TERRITORIAL DEVELOPMENT: AN APPROACH BASED ON SOCIOECONOMIC INDICATORS IN THE AÇU-MOSSORÓ TERRITORY (RN)

The Açu-Mossoró territory is an important space located in Rio Grande do Norte that aims to boost the regional economy and contribute to economic, social and political development through a territorial approach. In this sense, the present work aims to analyze the economic dynamization of the Açu-Mossoró territory through socioeconomic indicators. In order to obtain the results, it was necessary to carry out a brief theoretical review regarding the precedents of territorial development in the country. Therefore, the methodological model is based on the interpretation of information and secondary data from official sources. Finally, it was observed that the territory presented relevant economic and social advances, but there are still inequalities in the economic dynamics in the territory. Therefore, it is oriented to combine top-down and bottom-up strategies in a balanced way in order to promote the development of the Açu-Mossoró territory.
