In this dataset, each row represents all data for a single site. This includes both (a) site data, (b) survey conditions for each survey round and (c) bird abundances for each survey round. There were 1-4 survey rounds per site. The data column names are described below:
Note that survey rounds that were not undertaken for a given site still have zeroes in all fields. This is becasue I could not upload the data with blank cells. To correct for this, you must use the "NUMBER OF SURVEY ROUNDS" column to trim the data for each site (row) to the appropriate number of surveys in total. 
UNIQUE ID - unique site ID in the format REGION INITIALS-WALKID-CELLID. Where walk ID is the cluster of sites done per person in a single day and Cell ID is the term used for each independent site in that day of surveys for that person. Note: we used the term cell rather than site becasue they were area searches rather than point counts. 
WALK ID - The cluster of sites done per person in a single day
CELL ID - The term used for each independent site. Numbered 1-6 for each REGION/WalkID combination. 
NUMBER OF SURVEY ROUNDS - How many times each site was surveyed. Use this value to restrict survey data columns for each site. 
TSF BIN - Time since fire in years binned for analysis. See paper methods for bins. 
ELEV_BIN - Elevation above sea level in metres binned for analysis (see paper for bins)
GYPS BIN - remote sensed index of soil gypsum content binned for analysis (see paper for methods and bins)
EVC BIN - Ecological Vegetation Class - Victorian Government State-wide Veg mapping units. See paper for source. 
SPATIAL BIN - The proportion of the 1km2 area surrounding the cell that is Triodia Mallee vegetation, binned for site stratification. See paper
TSF - time since fire in years. continuous
ELEV - elevation in metres above sea level. continuous
GYPSUM - index of soil gypsum content. Remote sensed and continuous. 
PERC_TM - The proportion of the 1km2 area surrounding the cell that is Triodia Mallee vegetation. Continuous
RAIN MEAN ANNUAL - mm per year.  continuous
