Author Information Name: Shu Li Institution: Department of Civil and Environmental Engineering, University of California, Irvine Email: shul15@uci.edu Name: Vu Dao Institution: Department of Civil and Environmental Engineering, University of California, Irvine Email: vndao1@uci.edu Name: Mukesh Kumar Institution: Department of Civil and Environmental Engineering, University of California, Irvine Email: mukeshk@uci.edu Name: Phu Nguyen Institution: Department of Civil and Environmental Engineering, University of California, Irvine Email: ndphu@uci.edu Name: Tirtha Banerjee Institution: Department of Civil and Environmental Engineering, University of California, Irvine Email: tirthab@uci.edu 3. Date of data collection: 2021-09 DATA & FILE OVERVIEW 1. WUI_RS.zip - Shape files(.shp) of wildland-urban interface (WUI) in California mapped using remote sensing data. This compressed file includes three folders: WUI_RS, WUI_RS_Interface, and WUI_RS_Intermix. Each folder has several auxiliary files besides the .shp file. While when navigate these folders in ArcGIS or QGIS, they will only show one layer of WUI map for each folder. The current definition of WUI includes the concepts of "Intermix" and "Interface". "Intermix" is the area where human developments and wildland vegetation overlap, while "Interface" is that region which is nearby to a densely vegetated wildland. The layer WUI_RS contains all the contents in WUI_RS_Interface and WUI_RS_Intermix. 2. BuildingFootprints_CA.zip - Shape file(.shp) of California building footprints extracted from Miscrosoft building footprtins database. (https://github.com/microsoft/USBuildingFootprints) This compressed file includes several auxiliary files besides the .shp file. While when navigate this folders in ArcGIS or QGIS, it will only show one layer of building footprints in CA. This layer was used to map WUI-RS. 3. FVC_CA_LANDFIRE.zip - Raster file(.tif) of fuel vegetation cover in California extracted from LANDFIRE database. (http://landfire.cr.usgs.gov/viewer/) This compressed file includes several auxiliary files besides the .tif file. While when navigate this folders in ArcGIS or QGIS, it will only show one layer of fuel vegetation cover in CA. This layer was used to map WUI-RS.
