DESCRIPTION OF DATASET FILE (species_dataset.csv) There is one data file, with species mean values for body mass, bill size and acoustic measurements. Missig values are indicated by "n/a". The data file has the following columns: - Family: Family name, as per the Handbook of Birds of the World. - Species: Species name, as per birdtree.org. - Common name: Common name in English. - Peak frequency datasets: Indicates whether each species is part of the full peak frequency dataset (p), the full and halved datasets (pp), or the full, halved and one-fourth datasets (ppp). - Quartile frequency datasets: Indicates whether each species is part of the full quartile frequencies dataset (q), the full and halved datasets (qq), or the full, halved and one-fourth datasets (qqq). - Body Mass: Species body mass, in log10 grams, from Pigot et al. (2020 Nat. Ecol. Evol. 4:230–239). - Bill size: First Principal Component score of a Principal Component Analysis on bill measurements from Pigot et al. (2020). - Peak frequency: song peak frequency, in log10 Hertz. - Frequency bandwidth: difference, in log10 Hertz, between maximum and minimum song frequencies. - 50P frequency: song 50th frequency percentile, in log10 Hertz. - IQ frequency bandwidth: inter-quartile frequency bandwidth of song, in log10 Hertz. - Duration: song duration, in log10 seconds. The list of archive recordings measured, and the measurements per recording for minimum and maximum frequencies and for the 25th and 75th frequency percentiles, are given in a previously published dataset ( Friis et al. 2021 Data from: The allometry of sound frequency bandwidth in songbirds. American Naturalist, Dryad Digital Repository, https://doi.org/10.5061/dryad.2jm63xsns ).
