Distribution. Western Atlantic – Bermuda, North Carolina, Florida, Gulf of Mexico, Antilles, northern South America, Guyanas, and Brazil (from Amapá to Rio Grande do Sul) (Melo 1996). Central Atlantic – Ascension (Manning & Chace 1990).

Ecological notes. Rock, shell, and coral bottoms. Carapace generally covered with ascidians. Intertidal to 330 m (Melo 1996).
