Taxonomic history and remarks. This species was described by Draudt (1919) from a single male from Bogotá. Subsequently, Lathy (1936) described T. obliterata from a supposed male from Pampas, Peru. The specimen illustrated by Lathy is a female, not a male, and is now associated with M. dignota. Clench (1971) and Robbins (2004) correctly treated this species as a congener of Micandra platyptera.
Diagnosis. Males are easily distinguished by a rounded androconial brand in the distal portion of the discal cell. No other Micandra species in Colombia has such a brand on the dorsal forewing. The rounded androconial brand is shared with M. tongida (Clench) from Mexico. Males and females are distinguished by the red-brown anal lobe on the dorsal hindwing.
Distribution. In Colombia this species is known from only a few specimens from Central Cordillera in Cauca (western slope) and Western Cordillera in Risaralda at 2740 m above sea level
