Emended diagnosis. Proximal arm pattern usually 1 + 2 3 4 5 + 6 7 + 8 or 5 + 6 7 followed in middle arm by successive brachial pairs (a+b c+d …) or by a+b c d+e f …; distal arms with fewer than 5 successive muscular articulations in juvenile or small species and up to 22 in large specimens. First pinnule always on Br 4. Proximal part of genital pinnules with one row of H-shaped plates. Anal cone lower or higher than oral cone. Basals fused, or basal ring with one to three sutures. Stalk symplexies and distal syzygies with well developed crenularium; symplexial crenular units 6–10 of 1–3 crenulae; distal stalk with syzygies of labyrinthic crenularium.
