Dipoena guaraquecaba new species

Types. Holotype male from Brazil, state of Paraná, Guaraqueçaba, Reserva Natural Serra do Itaqui (25 ° 17 ’ 19 ”S; 48 ° 28 ’ 29 ”W), 16.IX. 2007, I. Czisauskas col., deposited in MCN 45294. Paratype female, same data as the holotype, deposited in MCN 45294.

Etymology. The specific name is a noun in apposition, taken from the type locality.

Diagnosis. The male of Dipoena guaraquecaba new species resembles that of D. chickeringi Levi, 1953 (see Levi, 1953: 1, figs. 1–4), but differs in the large conductor, in the trajectory of the sperm duct in the tegulum (Fig. 10) and in the pattern and shape of the carapace in lateral view (Fig. 12). The female of Dipoena guaraquecaba is close to D. tingo Levi, 1963 (see Levi, 1963: 180, fig. 287) by having an anterior, sclerotized area on the epigynum, but differs from it in the smaller sclerotized area (Fig. 13).

Description. Male (Holotype, MCN 45294): Total length 1.17. Carapace length 0.60, width 0.52. Clypeus height 0.31. Sternum length 0.29, width 0.31. Abdomen length 0.54, width 0.73, height 0.54. Leg formula IV/I/II/ III; segment length (I/II/III/IV): femora 0.44 / 0.44 / 0.39 / 0.46; patellae + tibiae 0.46 / 0.42 / 0.39 / 0.52; metatarsi + tarsi 0.42 / 0.42 / 0.37 / 0.48; total 1.32 / 1.28 / 1.15 / 1.46. Eye diameters and interdistances: AME 0.07, ALE 0.04, PME 0.05 and PLE 0.04; AME–AME 0.03, AME–ALE 0.02, PME–PME 0.04, PME–PLE 0.05. Eyes with dark borders. Clypeus black. Carapace high (Fig. 12), with grooves (Fig. 11), yellow, covered with darkened dots mainly in lateral and in median portion. Carapace with projections (Figs. 11, 12) and setae. Sternum and endites pale yellow. Labium brown. Chelicerae yellow, front dark brown. Legs yellow, covered with dark brown rings in all articles. Coxae pale yellow. Abdomen dorsum pale yellow with dark and brown marks (Fig. 11); venter pale yellow and lateral brown. Spinnerets yellow, covered with dark brown dots.

Female (Paratype, MCN 45294): Total length 1.40. Carapace length 0.50, width 0.50. Clypeus height 0.14. Sternum length 0.29, width 0.31. Abdomen length 0.90, width 1.13, height 0.84. Leg formula IV/I/II/III; segment length (I/II/III/IV): femora 0.46 / 0.46 / 0.37 / 0.44; patellae + tibiae 0.44 / 0.44 / 0.42 / 0.46; metatarsi + tarsi 0.44 / 0.42 / 0.42 / 0.46; total 1.34 / 1.32 / 1.21 / 1.66. Eye diameters and interdistances: AME 0.06, ALE 0.05, PME 0.05 and PLE 0.05; AME–AME 0.02, AME–ALE 0.02, PME–PME 0.04, PME–PLE 0.05. Eyes margined with black. Clypeus darkened. Carapace pale yellow, covered with brown spots in median portion. Carapace without projections.

Sternum, endites and labium as in male. Chelicerae as in male. Legs and coxae as in male. Abdomen as in male, except subcircular. Spinnerets as in male. Palp yellow with dark brown rings in all articles. Material examined. Only the types.

Distribution. Brazil (Paraná).
