Ruspolia Schulthess, 1898

In Africa, the genus Ruspolia contains about 20 species (Bailey 1975), which are sometimes difficult to identify even after Bailey’s revision. All species have homogenous, continuous, trilling songs with a species-specific syllable repetition rate (see Bailey 1976 for data from Uganda) and sometimes differences in syllable structure. Since the main energy of the song is usually above 14 kHz, it was at the edge of the capabilities of our equipment, and we can only give the syllable repetition rate of the song, but no details of syllable structure.
