Ophionea (Ophionea) indica (Thunberg, 1784)
Kirschenhofer (1996) lists this species for Hong Kong. It may be that this and O. interstitialis are being confused. Material: 1 ex. Hong Kong, Tai Lung Farm (AFCD), 3.ix. 76, on bare, dry mud between rice plants (AFCD collection, Tai Lung Farm. Collector R. Winney. Determined G.G.Kirby). Biology: Imago found September. Associated with rice. Can be attracted to light, it is fully winged and capable of flight.
Ophionea (Ophionea) interstitialis (Schmidt-Gbel, 1846)
Redtenbacher (1867) recorded Ophionea cyanocephala, a synonym of Ophionea indica (Thunberg, 1764) from Hong Kong. However Andrews (1924) concluded this identification was incorrect and the specimens were in fact interstitialis. It may be that this and O. indica are being confused.
Ophionea (Ophionea) ishii Habu, 1961.
