Description

Althepus lakmueangensis Li et Li sp. nov.

Type material. Holotype: Male (IZCAS), Thailand, Phangnga Province, Muang District, Lak Mueang Cave, 08°27.980'N, 98°31.00'E, altitude 15m, 10 October 2015. Paratypes: 4 females and 1 male, same data as holotype (IZCAS).

Etymology. The specific name refers to the type locality; adjective.

Diagnosis. The species resembles A. muangensis sp. nov. (Figs 14–15) with the male palp, but can be distinguished by the rugose surface of the distal end of the embolus and by the small conductor (Figs 10A–D).

Description. Male (holotype). Total length 3.39; carapace 1.15 length, 1.41 width; abdomen 1.79 length, 0.96 width. Carapace rounded (Fig. 11G), yellow, with three longitudinal brown bands of different width, among them, the middle one wider the laterla ones. Cheliceral promargin with two teeth, followed by a lamina, retromargin with two small teeth (Fig. 21F). Labium brown with two light rounded areas basally. Sternum brown. Abdomen elongate, brown, with one longitudinal yellow band and two latitudinal yellow bands dorsally, and two narrow white bands ventrally. Legs brown, femur and tibia annulated with white. Leg measurements: I 41.59 (12.18, 0.5, 12.37, 4.17), II 28.00 (7.18, 0.5, 7.05, 11.03, 2.24), III 18.44 (45.13, 0.5, 5.06, 6.28, 1.47), IV 20.10 (5.58, 0.5, 5.13, 6.35, 1.54). Male palp (Figs 10A–D): tarsus with three slightly curved, serrated bristles (all of them were missing) and one wart-like protrusion at the top of cymbial protrusion, one hooked spine with tip directed towards proximally (Figs 10A, D), one strong spine arising from a small tubercle; bulb bright yellow, ovate; embolus arising distally from bulb, short and rugose surface of the distal part; conductor arising prolatero-distally from bulb, small; embolus and conductor widely separated (the distance is less than diameter of bulb).

Female (paratype). Similar to male in coloration and general features (Figs 11H–I), but with a larger body size. Internal genitalia with a pair of sigmoid transparent spermathecae (Fig. 11E). Measurements: total length 4.09; carapace 1.09 length, 1.41 width; abdomen 2.63 length, 1.28 width. Legs I 40.31 (9.10, 0.5, 9.94, 17.31, 3.46), legs II 23.32 (6.09, 0.5, 5.58, 8.91, 2.24), III 17.02 (4.68, 0.5, 4.04, 5.26, 1.54), IV 22.88 (6.40, 0.5, 6.03, 7.24, 2.44). Variation. Carapace 1.15–1.30 length, 1.41–1.54 width, tibia I 12.37–12.44 in males; Carapace 1.09–1.25 length, 1.28–1.41 width, tibia I 8.72–9.94 in females.

Distribution. Known only from the type locality (Fig. 22).
