Schoenomyzina emdeni Hennig, 1955

Diagnosis: General coloration of body light-brown with grey pruinose stripes on thorax; antenna and palpus brown. Frons very wide, about half the head width; arista shortly pubescent; prestomal teeth developed; labella reduced; dorsocentral setae 2+2, the first presutural seta with about 1/3 length of the second one; prealar seta absent; prosternum bare; katepisternal setae 1+1+1, forming an equilateral triangle; calypters white; halter whitish; sternite 1 bare. Body length: 3.4 mm. Wing length: 3.2 mm.
Material examined: CHILE: Juan Fernández, Robinson Crusoe Island, 1 female, Mirador Selkirk Island, 4– 8.i.1993, S. A. Marshall.

Distribution: Juan Fernández Archipelago (Chile) (Lowënberg-Neto & de Carvalho 2013).
Biology: There are no biological studies about any species of this genus.
Comments: Hennig (1955) identified this species in Alejandro Selkirk Island (10 males and 23 females) (Table 1).
