Widely distributed in the southern Atlantic, with records from South Georgia, Argentina and the Falkland Islands, as well as the Eastern Pacific, from southern Peru southwards to the Magellan Straits and Cape Horn (Doflein & Balss 1912; Holthuis 1952; Boschi et al. 1992; Arntz et al. 1999; Thatje & Bacardit 2001; Marin & Anosov 2014); intertidal to 50 m.
