Distributed throughout New Zealand, southeastern Australia and Lord Howe Island (Yaldwyn & Webber, 2011) with a single specimen recorded from the Snares Islands, just south of border of the sub-Antarctic AOI (Fenwick 1978); benthic, intertidal to at least 100 m.
