T3.2 Translate the preliminary research questions identified in WP2 to concrete study designs
Description
WP2 sought to understand stakeholder concerns, needs and insights regarding the use of patient preference studies, aiming to recommend the use of specific methodologies for the case studies in WP3. WP3 designed, executed and evaluated the case studies of this project. Three disease areas were initially selected by PREFER for the case studies: rheumatoid arthritis (RA), neuromuscular diseases (NMD), and lung cancer. These three disease areas were selected as they span the PREFER criteria matrix for the inclusion of case studies (e.g., involve patients in different age groups, with diseases with different disease severity, treated by drugs that are relatively cheap or expensive). Besides the three case studies mentioned, PREFER aimed to add other case studies to its’ portfolio. Such studies could be led by academic or industry partners. In this task the translation of work conducted in WP2 to actual case study plans is described. Based on a developed PREFER strategy documents, GAP analysis and specified selection and review criteria, in total 11 prospective case studies were conducted and included as part of the PREFER project. This report contains synopses of these 11 PREFER case studies.
