RI-VIS D4.3 New Cooperations

International collaboration activities of research infrastructures are rather diverse, with different goals or driven by different motivations. A survey among European research infrastructures showed that they have been very active in many collaborative partnerships across the globe. Limited time, resources, funding and, within the last years, COVID-19 have been the major barriers limiting further development of these collaborations. Further interaction with participants of the RI-VIS outreach events indicated that joint projects and interests complemented by personal contacts are important to stimulate cooperation. Research infrastructures may have an important role in stimulating new collaborations as well as ensuring long term sustainable interaction partnerships with dedicated agreements. A template Memorandum of Understanding is included as an appendix to this deliverable. The RI-VIS projects also tested a number of virtual tools important to facilitate matchmaking and stimulate cooperation and provides a number of resources for research infrastructures to use to help build and develop new international cooperations.
