The specimens seen showed a bit more distinct pseudosegmentation of the body than those used in its redescription (De Smet 2005); habitus and trophi otherwise identical. Males present, similar in habitus to females, but smaller (~ 150 µm), and without trophi.
The species was found in psammon from the Costa Brava, Côte d’Azur, and Tyrrhenian Sea, at 50 m to 3.5 km off shore, and depths varying from 15 up to 30 m; June, July, September, October; water temperature 16−21 °C. Previous records are from the Norwegian Sea at Bergen, Norway (Lie-Pettersen 1905), the North Sea: Kieler Bucht, Germany (Schulz 1936 / 37), Eastern Scheldt, The Netherlands (De Smet 2005), Tyrrhenian Sea, Elba Island (De Smet 2007), and Skagerrak, Sweden (Willems et al. 2009).
