Distribution and Ecology. In the East Sea P. subarcuatus occurs only in the deep zone (Chavtur 1983). Near Cape Povorotny (South Primorye: 42 º 37´N, 134 º 19.2´E; 42 º 41.7´N, 134 º 17.2´E and 42 º 51.1´N, 134 º 19.9´E) it was found at a depth range of 205–1130 m (mud) and southwest of Monneron Island (South Sakhalin) at 320 m (mud) (Fig. 1). The species is also known in the Sea of Okhotsk from 150 to 200 m (mainly mud with an admixture of sand). It occurs at the salinity and temperature ranges of 33.2–33.5 ‰ and – 1.8–2.7 ºC respectively (Chavtur 1983).
