Emended diagnosis. Large eohypsibiids with a stubby body. Large trumpet-shaped mouth surrounded by 14 lamellae. Rigid buccal tube. Ventral strengthening bar absent. Crest-shaped buccal tube apophyses for insertion of the retractor muscles of the stylets and crest shaped pair of caudal hooks present dorsally and ventrally. Eggs laid free and always with ornamented shell. Three large clover-shaped Malphighian tubes each with a small stalk.
Composition. B. smreczynskii (Węglarska, 1970), B. mahunkai (Iharos, 1971), B. weglarskae (Dastych, 1972), B. volubilis (Durante Pasa & Maucci, 1975), B. nebulosus (Dastych, 1983), B. markevichi (Biserov, 1992) and B. sp from Greenland (Hansen & Katholm, 2002).
