Bering Sea northwest of Saint Matthew Island (60°30’N, 178°51’W), and Adreanof Islands (52°15’N, 172°59’W), Aleutian Islands (Maslenikov et al. 2013), to northern California (40°44.5’N) (NWFSC-FRAM). Benthic; depth: 18–332 m (60–1,089 ft) (min.: Eschmeyer and Herald 1983; max.: Personal communication: University of Washington, Burke Museum of Natural History and Culture Fish Collection, Seattle, Washington).A University of Washington, Burke Museum of Natural History and Culture Fish Collection specimen, UW 113536, lists a capture in a bottom trawl net of this species at a depth of 728 m (1,738 ft), much deeper than the previous maximum depth recorded. Katherine Maslenikov has checked the specimen and, unless this is a washdown from a previous, shallower haul, the specimen was identified correctly and the underlying data appears to be correct.
