Kachemak Bay, northern Gulf of Alaska (Mecklenburg et al. 2002) to Point Loma, southern California (Miller and Lea 1972). Benthic; depth: intertidal to 581 m (1,906 ft) (min.: Personal communication: Scripps Institution of Oceanography Fish Collection, La Jolla, California; max.: NWFSC-FRAM). Agonopsis emmelane (Jordan & Starks, 1895) is a junior synonym.
