Argyropelecus lychnus Garman, 1899. Tropical Hatchetfish. To more than 7.6 cm (3 in) TL (Miller and Lea 1972). Eastern Pacific and possibly Indian Ocean; Gulf of Alaska (59.09°N, 147.01°W) (Stevens et al. 2009) to Chile (Baird 1971), including Islas Galápagos (McCosker et al. 1997). Depth: 66–2,124 m (216–6,967 ft) (min.: Castellanos-Galindo et al. 2006b; max. Cruz-Acevedo et al. 2018). Specimens previously reported as A. lychnus from British Columbia are A. sladeni (Mecklenburg et al. 2002).
