Description
Cryptocentrus cinctus (Herre 1936) —Banded shrimpgoby (Fig. 134)
Status at New Ireland. New record, based on specimens photographed at Lissenung Island by Dietmar Amon on 16 May 2009 and 2 Aug. 2009, and at 5 m depth by Dean Tully on 16 Sept. 2012 (yellow form), and 4 m depth on 22 Sept. 2012 (banded form); a video of a specimen taken in Senta Passage, southeast of New Hanover at 5–16 m depth, St. KR 118, in 2014 (identified by Barry C. Russell).
Distribution and habitat. New Ireland: 1, 2.—General distribution: Andaman Sea and Indonesia east to Caroline Islands and New Guinea, north to Yaeyama Islands, south to northern Australia. Found in lagoon and sheltered shoreline reefs, associated with alpheid shrimps, 2–15 m depth. Marine.
