Remarks: This species prefers “seashore habitats with rich algal growth” (Fjellberg 1998, p. 52) in the Palaearctic but appears to inhabit both shore and inland communities in Nearctic, for instance “forest and meadow litter” of Alaska (Fjellberg 1985, p. 56). These differences in habitat preference are unusual and raise some doubts about the identity of this species.
General distribution: Holarctic.
