############################################################################################################# THIS DATA PACKAGE ACCOMPANIES: Mihalik, Ilona, Bateman, Andrew W., and Darimont, Chris T. 2019. Trophy hunters pay more to target larger-bodied carnivores Please contact Ilona Mihalik (ilonammillie@gmail.com) with questions about the database or if you find any errors in the file. Please let us know if you use the data and we would be happy to provide assistance. This data package contains the original dataset as well as R code used to generate figures and analyses in the manuscript. ############################################################################################################### CONTENTS 1. Mihalik et al - README.txt---This file, including a description of variables. 2. Mihalikdata.csv--A data file used in all of the figures and analyses that appear in the paper. It contains prices advertised online for guided hunts of 15 North American big game species used in our study, and the jurisdictions for the offered hunts. It also includes data collected on our predictor variables: average male body mass, NatureServe conservation status, classification (ungulate or carnivore), and presence or absence of ‘difficult' or 'dangerous’ hunt descriptions. 3. Mihalik et al - Supplementary code.r — Includes code for generating the figures and analyses in the manuscript. ############################################################################################################### VARIABLE NAMES AND DESCRIPTIONS FILE: Mihalikdata.csv VARIABLES: Species: Indicates species common name used in the study. 15 North American species defined as “big game” were included.
