Readme file to the cytb_Pmelanipherus.fas alignment file

29/09/2014

This is the alignment of the 704bp-long cytochrome b fragment from the Polychromophilus melanipherus parasite, isolated from blood from Miniopterus schreibersii schreibersii bats, caught in 2010 and 2011 at 23 different sites throughout Southern, Central and Eastern Europe.
Each line represents a parasite/bat host from which the parasite was isolated. Bats with double infections (i.e. multiple ambiguous base calls) are excluded from the data.

Name of each sequence consists of the site of capture followed by the unique identifier used for each bat, separated by a '_'. The first two characters represent the region/country, the third character, a single number, represents the site within that region.
