This dataset was utilized for a research article that is being published by the ICES Journal of Marine Science and is currently in press. See article for details on species mobility and habitat factors. Title: “Gauging oxygen risk and tolerance for the megafauna of the southern California shelf based on in situ observation, species mobility and seascape Publication Year: 2020 Authors: Ed Parnell, Lisa Levin, Mike Navarro Institution: Scripps Institution of Oceanography, UC San Diego There are two data files: (1) ‘SpeciesMetadata.csv’ provides metadata including species codes used in the data frames for species identification. The columns in this file include: SpeciesCode, Mobility, SpeciesName, CommonName, MajorTaxa, and Group. Columns are delimited by “|” Column Note: QuantScale column: Species counting basis (individual counts, log base 4, or log base 10) (2) ‘ROVObservationData.csv’ includes time, location, habitat data, physical exposure data, and species abundance. Column delimiter = “|” The columns include: Date and Time : all values PST (USA) Easting: east-west coordinates in UTM Zone 11 units, horizontal datum=WGS84 Northing: north-south coordinates, same as above Depth: units meters Temp=temperature in Degrees C Sal=salinity in PSU Oxy=dissolved Oxygen (ml L-1) Grain: Sediment Grain Size, see article for description Bedform: Type of bedform, see article for description Remaining Columns are species counts, see species metadata for matching species codes to species names.
