Phytomyptera halidayana Rondani, 1872

TYPE LOCALITY: “ in Sicilia [Sicily (Italy)]”.

TYPE MATERIAL: 1 ♂, syntype (missing left fore- and right hind-legs, double-mounted: fastened by a micro pin to a polyethylene foam block on a standard insect pin) (MZUF: Box 9): Phytomyptera Rnd. / halidayana Rnd. / Sicil. / 450.

CURRENT STATUS: junior synonym of Thrixion aberrans (Schiner 1861) (Herting & Dely-Draskovits 1993: 174).

REMARKS: Rondani (1872b: 108) described Phytomyptera halidayana, without specifying either the number or the sex of the specimens, but giving a single measurement of length, from material received from A.H. Haliday. We found one syntype in this study.
