Geomyza calceata Rondani, 1875

ORIGINAL DESCRIPTION: 1875a: 252 (key), 253 (description).

TYPE LOCALITY: “ in Apennino parmensi [Parmese Apennines (Italy)]”.

TYPE MATERIAL: 1 ♂, syntype (MZUF: Box 34): Geomyza Mgn / calceata Rnd. / 1792 / Holotypus Geomyza calceata Rnd., ♂, desig. Á. Soós, 1979 / Geomyza tripunctata Fall., M, det. Á. Soós, 1979 / Geomiza calceata / Geomyza tripunctata Fallen, 1823, det., J.W.A. v. Zuijlen, 1995.

CURRENT STATUS: junior synonym of Geomyza tripunctata Fallén, 1823 (Soós 1984e: 56).

REMARKS: Rondani (1875a: 253) described Geomyza calceata from just the male sex without specifying either the number or the length of the specimens: “ Mas semel lectus [male collected once]”. Árpad Soós labeled the single MZUF male as “ holotype ” but he never indicated this specimen as holotype in any of his publication (E.P. Nartshuk & J.W.A. van Zuijlen, pers. comm., 2012). We consider it as a syntype because Rondani did not specify he had a single specimen. The MZUF also contains a (non-type) female because of its sex.
