**FILE NAMES AND CONTENTS**
Davis_et_al_plot_data.csv
- Plot data summarized to each stand. Values represent the mean of the 10 2x2 m plots located in each stand.

**FILE STRUCTURE AND UNITS OF MEASUREMENTS**

The file is a comma delimited file.
Column headings are in the following order and format:

Region
 - Region the stand was located in. Regions include: Canada (CA), Europe (EU), Southern Hemisphere (SH), and United States (US).

Country
 - Country the stand was located in.
Countries include:Canada (CA), Finland (FI), Scotland (SC), Sweden (SE), Argentina (AR), Chile (CL), United States (US), and New Zealand (NZ).

Site
 - The site name as a four letter code. See Table S1 in the supplemental information of the manuscript for more site information.

Type
 - The dominant vegetation type of the stand: native Pinus contorta forest (PICO_forest), Pinus contorta plantation (PlantationPICO), naturalized or invasive Pinus contorta (Naturalized),
plantation of non-Pinus contorta tree species (PlantationOther), natural forest of non-Pinus contorta tree species (Other_canopy), grassland or shrubland (open).

Origin
 - Indicates whether Pinus contorta is native or non-native at the site.

PICO
 - Indicates if the stand was dominated by Pinus contorta (PICO) or other vegetation (non-PICO).

Richness
 - Mean species richness (number of species per 4 m^2 (2x2 m plot)) for each stand. This is the mean of the 10 plots sampled in each stand.

Litter_depth
 - Mean litter depth (mm) for each stand. This is the mean of the 10 plots sampled in each stand.

BA
 - Mean basal area (m^2/ha) of each stand. Basal area was measured with a basal area prism from the center of each plot.

Stand_age
 - Age of the Pinus contorta stand. For plantations this is the exact age and all trees are the same age. For native or naturalized stands this is the mean age of the three largest trees in the stand.

Growth_rate
 - Approximate mean diameter growth rate of the three largest trees in the Pinus contorta stand (cm/year calculated by: diameter at breast height/age).

Longitude
 - Longitude of the site.

Latitude
 - Latitude of the site.
