Description
FIGURE 1. Map of central Mexico indicating the hydrological systems where freshwater fishes of the subfamily Goodeinae have been studied for helminth parasites. Numbers correspond to each hydrological systems as follows: 1 = San Pedro Mezquital; 2 = Santiago; 3 = Ameca; 4 = Cuzalapa River; 5 = Armeria-Ayuquila; 6 = Coahuayana-Tamazula River; 7 = Balsas; 8 = Verde River in Santiago; 9 = Santa María River; 10 = Verde River in Pánuco; 11 = Moctezuma River in Pánuco; 12 = Lerma River. The distributional range of each tribe of Goodeinae is represented by a particular color shadow; Blue = Girardinichthyini; Green = Chapalichthyini; Red = Chapalichthyini; Yellow = Ilyodontini (modified from Webb et al. 2004 and Domínguez-Domínguez et al. 2010). The doots represent the localities with helminthological records (for more details see Table 1).
