This file briefly explains the variables in the data file "Cstocks_Ecology_2006.csv". The data file includes the variables related to the C stocks data described in the paper "Effects of plant functional group removal on CO2 fluxes and belowground C stocks across contrasting ecosystems", published in Ecology. Please refer to the Methods section in the paper for further details.

island: ID code for each island.
SR: shrub removal.
MR: moss removal.
island_size: island size class.
shrubC: carbon in shrubs, in kg of C per square meter.
mossC: carbon in mosses, in kg of C per square meter.
SOC: carbon in the organic horizon of the soil, in kg of C per square meter.
