"Morphological Quotients_Pombo-Ayora&Tavera2020.csv": contains a matrix with the morphological quotients (morphological traits phylogenetical regressed against head length) of parrotfishes feeding traits. Raw morphological traits were obtained from photographs of the head of 15 species of parrotfishes of the New World. We measured ten traits that are directly involved in the closing of the lower jaw. "A2Q" is the quotient of the weight of the muscle A2, and "A3Q" is the quotient of the weight of the muscle A3. "PCSA(A2)Q" is the quotient of the Physical Cross-Sectional Area of the muscle A2, and "PCSA(A3)Q" is the quotient of the Physical Cross-Sectional Area of the muscle A3. "Work(A2)Q" is the quotient of the muscular work of the muscle A2, and "Work(A3)Q" is the quotient of the muscular work of the muscle A3. "GapeQ" is the quotient of the horizontal length of the mouth gape. "APQ" is the quotient of the ascending process length of the premaxilla. "Opening MA" is the opening mechanical advantage of the lower jaw system. "Closing MA" is the closing mechanical advantage of the lower jaw system. The last two traits are not quotients because they do not depend on the size of the fish.
"Parrotfishes feeding modes and maximum length Pombo-Ayora&Tavera2020.csv": contains the feeding modes and maximum lenght of all parrotfishes used to build the phylogenetical tree.
"Scarinae_Phylogenetic_tree_Pombo-Ayora&Tavera.tre": is a phylogenetical tree of 52 species of parrotfishes.
"Rcode for phylogenetic PCA Pombo-Ayora&Tavera.R": is the R code used to plot the phylogenetical principal component analysis (pPCA). This code uses the file "Morphological Quotients_Pombo-Ayora&Tavera2020.csv" and the file "Scarinae_Phylogenetic_tree_Pombo-Ayora&Tavera.tre". The outputs of this code are a phylogenetical morphospace (pPCA) with its correspondig values, and the Scores of New World parrotfishes which are used to calculate the morphological disparity.

"Rcode for morphological Disparity Pombo-Ayora&Tavera": is the R code to calculate the morphological disparity as calculated in the paper. This code uses the file "pPCA_Scores_Pombo-Ayora&Tavera2020.csv". The outputs are the morphological disparity for Scarus and for Sparisoma as well as the statistical tests to compare them.
