Type species: Cimex comma Thunberg, 1783, by monotypy.

Diagnosis. Head longer than wide, mandibular plates longer than clypeus. Antenniferous tubercles with lateral and ventral tubercles. Antennomere II longer than other antennomeres. Anterior margin of bucculae lobate, posterior margin lobate tapering towards base of head. Labiomere I contained between bucculae; labium reaching posterior margin of mesocoxae. Scutellum longer than wide; frenal lobe as long as post-frenal lobe. Pro-, meso- and metasternum sulcate. Mesosternum with slightly elevated carina. Peritreme of metasternal gland opening spout. Meso- and metacoxae closer to each other than to procoxae. Trichobothria posterior to spiracles, one mesial and other laterad to an imaginary line connecting spiracles. Genital cup of pygophore striated. Paramere crown falcate, with scale-like sculptures laterally. Segment X up to two times longer than wide. Gonocoxites VIII as long as wide, swollen, facing posteriorly; posterior and mesial margins setose.

Remarks. Stål (1876) included Steleocoris in the Diploxyini, along with Adria Stål and Diploxys Amyot & Serville. More recently, the Steleocoris has been placed in Carpocorini (Rider et al. 2018; Rider 2020) though tentatively.
