Description
Laurus persea Linnaeus, Species Plantarum 1: 370. 1753.

Lectotype (van der Werff in Novon 12: 580. 2002): [icon] " Prunifera arbor, fructu maximo pyriformi viridi, pericarpio esculento butyraceo nucleum unicum maximum nullo ossiculo tectum, cingente " in Sloane, Voy. Jamaica 2: 132, t. 222, f. 2. 1725. - Typotype: Herb. Sloane 7: 77 (BM-SL).
Current name: Persea americana Mill. (Lauraceae).
