Description
Eryngium planum Linnaeus, Species Plantarum 1: 233. 1753.
"Habitat in Russia, Polonia, Austria, Helvetia." RCN: 1893.
Lectotype (designated here by Jury): Herb. Clifford: 87, Eryngium 1, sheet A (labelled “3”) (BM-000558216).
Current name: Eryngium planum L. (Apiaceae).
Note: Jury & Southam (in Jarvis & al. in Taxon 55: 212. 2006) indicated "Herb. Clifford: 87, Eryngium 1, sheet A (labelled “4”)” as the lectotype. Unfortunately sheet A is labelled “3”, and sheet B is labelled “4”, making this type choice ineffective. However, a typification is now formalised here.
