Feeder values range from 0 to 100 and indicate how frequently a species is associated with bird feeders."

max.color.contrast,"An index describing the distinctiveness of species' plumages based on color information. Color information was provided by the Cornell Lab of Ornithology based on data collected through the Merlin bird identification app. When people use the app to idenitfy species they can select up to three colors from nine options (i.e., black, white, gray, brown, red, orange, yellow, green, blue) to aid in species identification. Values range from 0 to 100 for each color and represent the percentage of identification efforts in which it was one of the first three colors selected. We used the maximum of the red, orange, yellow, blue, and green values, or the average of the black and white values, whichever was greater, to generate our index. When data were not available for a species, we generated color values that were comparable to those of similar looking species."
