Albuquerque (1954 –1956) mentioned the capture of a specimen to the north of Madeira (Maul 1948c, 1949), identified asN. rhomboidalis. Nevertheless, this specimen is distinct from the other specimens named by other authors. In the North Atlantic,N. rhomboidalis is replaced byN. helgae, ranging southward to Madeira. The possible occurrence ofN. rhomboidalis in this area, as reported by Quéro (1982), seems doubtful.
